Warsaw (CP) - A Polish
sports newspaper suggested today that Canadian hockey players might
have been under the influence of drugs when they played against the
Soviet Union Friday night.
Przeglad Sportowy (Sports
Review), in a report from its correspondent in Moscow, said:
"The Canadians were
much older than their opponents. Yet, they were faster and displayed
more strength and spirit.
"It suggest they might
have been under influence of drugs, which is not forbidden in
professional ice hockey."
Canada lost the game 5-4
after leading 3-0 and 4-1.
