Fireworks The Tragically Hip is one of Canada's greatest musical acts. Lead singer/song writer Gordon Downey has often referenced the great Canadian game, most notably by wearing a Boston Bruins sweater in music video and direct references to the triumph and tragedy of Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Bill Barilko in the song Fifty Mission Cap. However there is a lesser known song from the Phantom Power album that directly references the 1972 Summit Series. It is entitled "Fireworks," with the lyrics listed below. The jacket cover of the album is also below to aid those who are looking for the album. The song is a story of true love, whether it be hockey or a girl, and the amazing things you can do if the love is so incredibly pure. | Listen to 40 second clip from TheHip.com | FireworksIf there's a goal that everyone remembers, it was back in ol' 72We all squeezed the stick and we all pulled the trigger And all I remember is sitting beside you You said you didn't give a fuck about hockey And I never saw someone say that before You held my hand and we walked home the long way You were loosening my grip on Bobby Orr Isn't it amazing anything's
accomplished We hung out together every single
moment Isn't it amazing anything's
accomplished Next to your comrades in the

accomplished This one thing probably never goes
