Team Canada 1972 Names Prostate Cancer Research Foundation as Charitable Partner for 30th Anniversary 1972 Summit Series.com has learned that the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation is the honored charitable partner of Team Canada 1972 celebrations for the 30th anniversary. From ProstateCancer.ca: "It was 30 years ago this fall that Team Canada 1972’s Paul Henderson brought the country to its feet with his winning goal against the Soviet Union – a memory still celebrated by hockey fans today. This September 27-28, the team will be together again, marking their 30th anniversary with games and galas in Mississauga, Ontario. The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada is honoured to be a charitable partner in the festivities." Details of how money will be raised and how much will go to the charity are not yet available. Peter Mahovlich, one of the top performers in the 1972 Summit Series, has been battling prostate cancer since 1998.
